Chunky Interlocking Building Blocks in a Storage Box

What this is

A set of chunky interlocking building blocks in a clear plastic box with a carry handle. Each block is 4 cm square, which is big enough for a three-year-old's hands and too big to be swallowed or lost under a sofa. The blocks clip into each other on all four edges, and every one has a number, a letter or a maths sign cut into it, so the same set gets used for counting and spelling once the building gets boring.

The good bits

• The box is the point. Block sets die when the pieces spread across a house. This one has somewhere to go back to, with a handle and two clip latches, and a child can carry it themselves.
• The pieces are 4 cm. Chunky enough for small hands, and too big to disappear. We measured one against a ruler, you can see it in the last photo.
• Numbers 0 to 10, letters, and plus, minus, times, divide. The markings are cut right through the plastic, not printed, so they don't rub off. That's what keeps this set in use past the first week.
• Nothing to charge. The only toy on this store with no batteries and no sound.
• It isn't a one-time toy. There is no single model to finish. It's whatever they invent, which is the real value.

Best for

A child of about three upward. Under three, the numbers mean nothing yet but the blocks still clip together and the 4 cm size is safe. It's the one thing on this store that a child will sit with alone for an hour.

Are these the same as Lego?

No. They're their own system, bigger than a Lego brick, and they don't clip onto Lego or any other branded brick. Bigger and chunkier is the point at this age.

How many blocks are in the box?

It varies by batch, so we don't print a number we can't stand behind. We confirm the count with the supplier and tell you on WhatsApp before we send it.

What age are chunky interlocking blocks for?

Three and up gets the most out of them. The 4 cm size is safe for younger children who just want to clip and un-clip.
